Les Boronyak (Ornamental Turners Group of Australia (OTGA) crafted two lovely boxes from a piece of Burl purchased from Boutique Timbers at the Kiama Wood Show.
To prepare the timber he resaws the pieces to a thinner 15mm thick. Then using Mega-poxy and black oxide coloured backfills the voids and defects to highlight the voids and stabilise the complex grain. The two boxes were then finished with Wattle Stylewood.
